ATCs: This program will not have approval by the BOC this year, Athletic Trainers should report this program as Category D; professional programs that are sponsored by groups other than BOC Approved Providers ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program. No EBP offered.
EMS: This Symposium is pending approval for up to 10 hours by Kansas board of EMS. All certificates will be electronically sent to each attending provider.
OT and COTAs: This Symposium is APPROVED for up to 10 hours by the Kansas Occupational Therapy Association. OT and COTA’s will receive a certificate at the end of the symposium certifying their attendance. OT and COTA’s should claim only those hours actually spent in the education program.
PT and PTA’s: This Symposium is APPROVED for up to 10 hours by the Kansas Physical Therapy Association. PT’s and PTA’s should claim only those hours actually spent in the education program.
Symposium Purpose Statement
The Annual Wichita Sports Medicine Symposium is a meeting of multidisciplinary health care providers specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. The goal is to address issues related to the treatment and/or prevention of injuries sustained by physically active clients. The annual symposium is an opportunity to raise awareness of sports injuries and to support the healthcare professionals. Their goal in practicing orthopedic/sports medicine is to decrease the frequency of injuries, complications and speed healing. End result is ultimately to enhance the quality of life for the physically active client. The agenda of the symposium is to provide the sports medicine healthcare provider with current information regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of injuries in the physically active client.
Course Hours
Registration begins Friday at 12:30pm. The Friday symposium begins at 1:00 p.m and concludes at 6:30 p.m. Saturday symposium check in begins at 7:30 a.m with the symposium starting at 8:00 am and concludes at 2:00 pm.
Confirmation and Cancellations
Confirmation of registration will be sent via e-mail or fax within 3 days of receipt. If you have not received a confirmation within 5 days of the seminar please call Chris Fleming 316-409-3692. Cancellations must be received at least 5 working days before the symposium for refund less 15%. For cancellations received later, a refund less 45% will be given. Please note that if you register and do not attend, you are still liable for full payment.
